The film
This ethnographic film is in post-production, with a rough cut completed. A feature-length educational film, The Jesus Cage will complement the recently completed, Chosen (Custody of the Eyes). While Chosen forms an intimate portrait of one young woman's journey into a cloistered monastery, The Jesus Cage is intended to provide a broader view (a survey, in a sense) of monastic life from the vantage of cloistered nuns at various stages of life as cloistered contemplative — via interviews and with footage recorded by the nuns, themselves.
The nuns remove themselves from the world in order to mediate, through their prayers, on behalf of humanity. They believe that their pleas and penances can change the course of history.
